Europa League Final: Ferdinand Says Tottenham Beating Man United Wouldn’t Be a Surprise

Ahead of Wednesday night’s Europa League final in Bilbao, former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has admitted he wouldn’t be surprised if Tottenham Hotspur defeat his old club.
Speaking to Optus Sport, Ferdinand pointed to Manchester United’s inconsistency this season and Tottenham’s dominant head-to-head record, having already beaten the Red Devils three times in the current campaign.
“I’ve to be honest, I cannot call a Man United result,” Ferdinand said. “Man United are so inconsistent in the Premier League. I don’t think Man United fans can be too surprised if Tottenham win the Europa League. Tottenham beat us three times already this season, so it’s not going to be a surprise if they beat us a fourth time.”
Ferdinand’s comments come amid growing concern from fans and pundits over Manchester United’s fluctuating performances and shaky form in domestic competitions. The Red Devils face a high-pressure clash against an in-form Spurs side managed by Ange Postecoglou, with European silverware and Champions League qualification on the line.
The former England international also recently criticised Manchester United’s transfer dealings since Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure, and questioned the club’s decision to let go of several key players in recent years.
The Europa League final offers a crucial chance for Erik ten Hag’s side to salvage their season, but Ferdinand’s remarks reflect growing skepticism over their ability to deliver on the big stage.
