Evangelist absconds with lover’s car, sells to his friend

Police in Oyo have arrested one Olajide Olawale, for allegedly stealing a Toyota Matrix vehicle belonging to his girlfriend, and selling it to his friend in Abuja.

The 41-year-old, who claimed to be an evangelist, of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Mowe, Ogun State, was paraded alongside other suspected criminals recently apprehended.

Parading the suspects at press conference in Ibadan, the Commissioner of Police, Shina Olukolu, stressed that the command will clamp down on criminals in the state before, during and after the general elections.

Others who were paraded include a 50-year-old driver, Ismaila Yusuf, who allegedly conspired with a gang of armed robbers to rob his employer; as well as 39-year-old Kunle Omolere and 30-year-old Eniola Tosin, who were both arrested for cultism.

There was also a 25-year-old potter, Idowu Nathaniel, who was nabbed for impersonating a military officer; and Akintemi Tosin, who falsely claimed to be a Special Anti-Robbery Squad operative.
