Ex-Footballer, Mohamed Aboutrika Added To Terror List

One of the most successful footballers of his time, Mohamed Aboutrika has been added to Egypt’s terror list following alleged links with banned Muslim Brotherhood.

Aboutrika according to his lawyer is accused of being of financial support to the banned brotherhood organisation considered a terrorist group by the Egyptian Government.

This comes after the ex-footballer in 2012 endorsed and backed a brotherhood member, Mohamed Morsi, who contested for the office of the president.

Following the terror list addition of the ex-footballer, Mohamed Aboutrika has lost hi freedom of travel and is aced with a likely seizure of assets along with his passport.

Speaking on the latest development, Mohamed Aboutrika’s lawyer, Mohamed Osman, said the development was “contrary to the law.”

He added that his client, Aboutrika, had “not been convicted or formally notified of any of the charges against him.”

He concluded that the decision by the Egyptian government will b appealed.
