Ex-Governor Joshua Dariye’s Father Still Missing, Two Months after Abduction

The father of former Governor Joshua Dariye of Plateau State, Pa Defwan Dariye who was abducted by unknown person in June has still not been found.

According to the Plateau State Police Command, efforts are still being made to locate the 90 year old, kidnapped from his residence in Bokkos Local Government Area in June, 2020.

The abductees had contacted the family two weeks later and demanded for N100 million before the elder Dariye would be released.

According to reports, the family has been unable to come up with the ransom money and members of the police force are yet to locate the missing septuagenarian.

Spokesperson for the command, Ubah Ogaba however said efforts were still being made to locate and rescue the senior Dariye noting that such investigations are often discreet.

We are still investigating the matter. We will not spare any efforts until we find him no matter how long it takes while those found to be involved in his abduction will not go unpunished”, the police spokesperson said.

Joshua Dariye is currently serving a 14 year jail sentence for criminal breach of trust and misappropriation of funds during his tenure as Governor of Plateau State between 1999 and 2004.
