Ex-PDP Campaign DG Letep Dabang Resigns as Mutfwang’s Political Adviser, Returns to APC

A former Director General of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial campaign in Plateau State, Letep Dabang, has resigned his position as Political Adviser to Governor Caleb Mutfwang and rejoined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Dabang, who once served as the state chairman of the APC during the tenure of former Governor Simon Lalong, had defected to the PDP ahead of the 2023 elections. He played a pivotal role in Mutfwang’s campaign as Director General before being appointed as Political Adviser following the PDP’s electoral victory.

However, in a resignation letter dated June 30, 2025, and addressed to the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Dabang announced his departure from the Mutfwang administration, citing personal reasons.
“Please accept this letter as a formal notice of my resignation from my position as a Political Adviser,” he wrote. “I appreciate the opportunities I have had to serve and contribute to the government of the day as political adviser, and also as the former Director General of the Plateau State Peoples Democratic Party presidential/governorship campaign council.”
Dabang expressed gratitude to the administration and extended his best wishes to the government moving forward.
Confirming his return to the APC, the party’s Plateau State chairman, Rufus Bature, said Dabang had rejoined “fully,” adding, “In politics, there is no permanent enemy, but permanent interest.”
Dabang’s defection comes amid growing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, as both major parties — APC and PDP — continue to jostle for strategic positions and influence in key states.
