Ex-PDP Campaign Director Accuses Party Leadership of Complicity with APC, Calls for Overhaul

A former Director of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign, Oladimeji Fabiyi, has strongly criticised the party’s current leadership, accusing it of irresponsibility and alleging collusion with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking during an interview on Arise News on Monday, Fabiyi expressed deep dissatisfaction with the PDP’s handling of internal party crises since the 2023 general elections. He claimed that the leadership had failed to discipline key figures who undermined the party’s electoral chances, including former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, who openly admitted to working against the PDP during the presidential poll.
“It’s no longer news that Wike worked against the party during the last election after losing the presidential ticket to Atiku Abubakar,” Fabiyi said. “He and four other governors openly supported the APC’s candidate, Bola Tinubu, yet the party has failed to hold them accountable.”
Fabiyi called for the immediate removal of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), accusing its members of lacking the will to enforce internal discipline or chart a clear path forward.
“For me, I’ve totally lost confidence in the current leadership of the party,” he said. “They have failed and must step aside if the PDP is to have any serious future. We need a fresh start.”
He also criticised former Senate President Bukola Saraki’s ongoing reconciliation efforts, claiming Saraki had previously abandoned the North Central region when it needed leadership.
“The idea of reconciliation is laughable to me,” Fabiyi said. “We’re not telling ourselves the truth. Until we do, we can’t fix the PDP.”
Fabiyi further argued that the party’s recent efforts, including governors’ meetings and reconciliation committees, have yielded no tangible results, describing them as “gatherings of compromise rather than strategy.”
His comments add to growing internal tensions within the PDP, as party faithful continue to question the leadership’s direction and its silence on members who allegedly sabotaged its 2023 campaign.
