Ex PDP Chairman, Ali Modu Sheriff Loses Father to Fire Outbreak

Former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and ex Governor of Borno State, Ali Modu Sheriff has lost his father in a fire outbreak at his home in Maiduguri.

86 yr old Alhaji Sheriff, suffocated to death in a fire incident at his home along Damboa road, Maiduguri in the early hours of Thursday morning.

The fire, suspected to have been caused by faulty electrical wiring, suffocated the elder Modu Sheriff before wives and relatives could get to him in his room.

The octogenarian spent most of his time at home with his four wives and much younger children.

Alhaji Modu Sheriff becomes the second high profile Borno indigene to die in a few weeks. The first was chief of staff to the President, Abba Kyari.
