Falz Tackles Africa’s “Every Man for Himself” Mentality in New Album ‘The Feast’

Rapper and actor Falz has opened up about the inspiration behind his newly released album The Feast, revealing that the project centers on the urgent need for unity and collective progress in Africa.
Speaking in an interview on Naija FM, Falz explained that the album promotes the theme of community, calling for a cultural shift away from the individualistic mindset that he believes is stalling the continent’s development.

“The message I’m pushing across is ‘community.’ I feel like we need a sense of community because the mentality that we have in this country and Africa is the ‘every man for himself’ one, and it’s not good,” he said.
The rapper, known for using his music as a platform for social commentary, expressed concern that both African leaders and ordinary citizens often prioritize personal gain over the greater good.
“We constantly complain about how the government isn’t good. Why? Because our leaders look out for themselves and their families, disregarding everyone else,” he stated. “We need to think about the collective, every person, and we need to be there for each other.”
While The Feast carries a more reflective and symbolic tone compared to some of his previous, more direct projects, Falz said the core message remains powerful and relevant. He encourages listeners to engage deeply with the album’s themes to fully grasp its meaning.
“It’s not as intense and direct as some of my other ones. With this one, you need to sit and listen,” he added.
The project reinforces Falz’s position as one of Nigeria’s most socially conscious artists, continuing his tradition of using music to challenge the status quo and inspire national conversations.
