Two Time NBA All-Star, "Fast Eddie" Johnson Dies While Serving Life In Prison

Two times NBA All-star for the Atlanta Hawks, “Fast Eddie” Johnson has died, aged 65, while serving a life sentence.

Eddie Johnson’s blooming career was shortlived by a lifetime ban from the NBA for drug abuse coupled with life in prison sentence for sexual assault of a child.

Eddie was said to have passed away on the 26th of October, 2020, however, his death was brought to light by Rocker-Cusack Mortuary in Leesburg, Florida on Tuesday, 3rd November.

Eddie, said to have been a third-round pick from Auburn by the Hawks in the 1977 NBA draft became an immediate contributor (and later on), starter for the team.

The All-star earned himself the nickname “Fast Eddie” following his explosive first step and an averged 15.1 points in a total of 10 NBA seasons.

Ruining his career, Eddie bagged a lifetime suspension from the NBA in the year 1987 for his cocaine use.

According to the Florida department of Corrections website, Eddie Johnson received a mandatory life sentence in 2008 after he was found guilty of sexually assaulting a minor.

The fallen star was serving his life sentence at the Santa Rosa Correctional Institution in Milton, Florida, where an unnamed sickness led to his death.

The Rocker-Cusack Mortuary disclosed that Eddie will be buried at Weirsdale Community Cemetery in Florida on Saturday, 7th November.
