Residents of Omobayi area of Itapaji in Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State have been thrown into mourning following the death of a father of five, Daniel Sakpe, by suicide.
The 60-year-old man reportedly left his wife at midnight on Sunday with the excuse that he wanted to go and ease himself in the toilet.
She however became worried after waiting for a while and her husband did not return.
According to Daily Sun, the victim’s wife then woke one of their children identified as Rebecca, who discovered her father’s body hanging from a rope inside their sitting room.
The family then raised the alarm which attracted neighbours.
Sakpe reportedly did not show any sign that he wanted to end his life, as he was said to be one of those that conducted the church service in “high spirit” on Sunday.
Policemen from Ikole Police Station have reportedly since recovered his body and begun investigation into the incident.
