Not everything is rosy in the PDP camp as Ekiti state governor, Ayodele Fayose has stated that he may leave the party following Atiku Abubakar’s primary win.
Fayose is not a fan of Atiku and had supported Aminu Tambuwal at the primaries.
With the win for the former Vice-President, the Ekiti State governor has stated that he could walk away from the party.
In a statement made available to journalists, Fayose said: “We have no regret aligning with Governor Wike to support Governor Tambuwal for the presidential ticket and no apologies either.
“We kept the party alive and strong when most men became ladies. We never compromised. If any group feels it can do it alone, we will see how far they can go.
“I may renounce my membership of the party if the need arises.
Fayose added: “In the main time, myself and others will continue with our consultations while watching the turn of event.
“We cannot but appreciate leaders that have intervened so far, but this release became necessary to avoid fresh crisis or misrepresentation.”
The news came as a shock to many as Fayose had till now always been a PDP loyalist and is on record on various occasions stating that he could never leave the party.
