Farmers in Rukudawa community, situated just 7 kilometres east of Zurmi town, Zurmi LGA, Zamfara State have been gripped by fear following a series of explosions inside a nearby forest.

The early Tuesday explosions got the farmers scampering for safety away from their farms, residents said.

Daily Trust quoted a resident, Mustapha Saadu as saying that the incident occurred around 7 am.

According to him, buildings in the community shook after every explosion, which threatened to blow off the rooftops.

“We got set and went to our farms, and around 9 am, we began to hear more of the sounds of the explosions.

“We heard the sound of a fighter jet hovering around the area.

“We became highly terrified and hurriedly left our farms alongside dozens of other farmers.

“We suspect that it might be an aerial bombardment of bandits’ locations around the area by the Nigerian Airforce,” Saadu said.
