Federal Government employs 200,000 graduates on a monthly salary of N30,000

The Federal Government, in a bid to reduce unemployment, has said it will employ 200,000 graduates to work for a duration of time as teachers and agricultural extension workers.

The jobs, which will be available through out the country, is channelled at producing food for local consumption, and also to create employment opportunities to people.

Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, made this announcement at the colloquium on ‘The Way Forward  for Nigeria’ on Friday. 

He stated that the government has tried to create job opportunities for the masses, to enable them have a source of livelihood.

Hence, the project will provide 200,000 persons employment in the volunteer job programme scheduled to commence in two weeks.

Osinbajo also disclosed that the reason for the delay is to ensure that they provide the opportunities across the state. And also to enable them gather the necessary equipments needed for the job.

According to reports, about one million people registered for the programme, but the Federal Government will be starting with 200,000 graduates.

It is a temporary job opportunity for graduates.

The Vice President further revealed that the aim of the government is to create jobs directly while creating space for more private sector activities to facilitate economic growth.
