Yeni Kuti, the first daughter of Afrobeat legend, Fela, has slammed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over alleged shoddy preparations for the 2019 general election.

She made this known in a series of tweets via her Twitter handle on Friday.

According to her, INEC disenfranchised a lot of Nigerians by failing to distribute PVCs to as many potential voters as possible and preventing many registered voters from getting on the electoral register.

Yeni queried how long it would take the electoral body to get conduct of elections right, and challenged Nigerians to kick against mediocrity in the nation’s body polity.

She said, “We should stop allowing mediocrity thrive in this country. If 1 person registers and didn’t get PVC, INEC have failed. If 1 person gets his PVC and name not on register INEC have failed, not to talk of the millions that were disenfranchised. They have had 20yrs to get it right.

“A child that was born 20yrs ago has almost finished university. Why is it taking them so long to get it right. Even after collecting additional money they still haven’t gotten it right. Must Nigerians suffer to get everything? Hrs spending to register hrs spending to get PVC?”
