FG considers security threat by Fulani Herdsmen a National Issue – Dambazau

Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (retd), the Minister of Interior during weekend in Asaba, Delta State has reiterated the commitment of the Federal Government in the fight against security threats posed by the Fulani herdsmen in the country.

The Minister, while addressing newsmen lamented on how sad it is for most parts of the country to be faced with security threats, he however added that his Ministry was not slacking in its responsibilities as it is doing everything possible to tackle the challenges by way of capacity building and provision of equipment to the security agencies.

Dambazau who noted that his Ministry was the hub of public safety in Nigeria said the Federal Government considers the security threats posed by the Fulani herdsmen as a national issue as the safety and security of all Nigerian lives is the paramount concern of the government.

The Fulani herdsmen have been responsible for full fledged kidnaps, murder and outright invasion of communities.

These herdsmen who have grown from beggarly normads have left several dead in the wake of their clash with communities, especially in the repeat invasion of Benue State communities, murder of the Delta State Monarch, HRM Akaeze Edward Ofulue III, and in kidnap of Chief Olu Falae, former Secretary to the Federal Government, to mention a few.
