FIFA Opens legal action against Blatter and Platini over £1.54 million ‘disloyal payment’

Fifa has opened a legal action against former President Sep Blatter and former Vice President Michel Platini to recover more than £1.54 million.

Two million Swiss francs (£1.54m) was transferred to Platini, 64, on 18 January 2011 after Blatter, 83, approved the “disloyal payment”.

Fifa governing body unanimously ruled that the illicit funds be repaid.

When recouped, the fund will be put back into football development.

Additionally, the Swiss Federal Supreme Court the “gift” from the world football body was an “undue” payment.

In an interview with BBC Sports back in July Sep Blatter claims he is an honest man and has already opened a case against Fifa for the return of 60 personal wristwatches.

Blatter who spent 17 years at the helm of affairs in Fifa saw his illustrious career brought to an end amid several corruption scandals and he’s currently serving a six-year ban from all things football.

Blatter claims the information spread about him concerning money mismanagement at the end of 2014 World Cup in Brazil was all misinformation.

Both Sep Blatter and Mitchel Platini deny any wrongdoing whatsoever.
