Finally: Mourinho Set To Take Over At Man Utd – Report

Manchester United are now set to terminate the appointment of manager Louis van Gaal before the end of the month, after a shocking 2-1 loss to Sunderland worsened their chances of playing in the UCL next season, The Sun reports.

The club’s management were believed to be ready to leave the 64-year-old manager at the helms until the end of the season, but are now being forced to reconsider their position after Saturday’s loss confined them to fifth position and left them six points clear of the UCL spot.

According to The Sun, United bosses are trying to salvage their season and will lose nothing by going for former Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho before United’s next league game at home to Arsenal on February 28.

Despite a heavy £250 million expenditure in the transfer market under the Dutchman, the Old Trafford team have been confined to their worst-ever points total at this stage of the league season, with 41 points in 26 games.

They have won a paltry 11 out of the 26 and have scored the least goals of the top seven with 33.

The club’s bosses are convinced LvG’s sack and Mourinho’s appointment would meet with fans’ approval.
