First Gay Royal Wedding Set to Take Place

2 Min Read

Many have always seen the Royal Family as extremely conservative and in a lot of ways they are, but now the very first gay royal wedding is about to take place.

The wedding is for the cousin of the Queen,  Lord Ivar Mountbatten who says he’s ready to walk down the aisle with his partner, James Coyle.

The wedding is going to be a small, private affair between the two men

It’s the first time anyone in the Royal family would have a gay wedding.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Lord Mountbatten revealed that he loved his wife Penny whom he fathered three children with, but that he could not longer keep lying to himself.

He also disclosed what he suffered due to his sexuality, he was even bullied for his perceived homosexuality as a kid, and was convinced that he could never live openly.

He also worried about the perception of society and what they would think if he were to come out openly as gay.

He stated that he considered his three daughters before going through with the marriage and that they were adults who were in support of him.

He explained why he wanted to go through with it, explaining; “I really wanted to do it for James…He hasn’t been married…For me, what’s interesting is I don’t need to get married because I’ve been there, done that and have my wonderful children; but I’m pushing it because I think it’s important for him…James hasn’t had the stable life I have.

“I want to be able to give you that.” he said to his partner who was also at the interview.
