Five-Star Chelsea Disgrace Everton; Overtake Man City As League Leaders

1 Min Read

Chelsea cruised to the top of the Premier League with an emphatic victory over Everton at Goodison Park, thanks to two goals from Eden Hazard with Marcos Alonso, Diego Costa and Pedro also on target.

Hazard put in a superb display, opening the scoring after 19 minutes before having a hand in the second a minute later. The Belgium international fed Costa, who squared for Alonso to prod through Maarten Stekelenburg’s legs.

Costa then added a third just before half-time from a corner, firing home Nemanja Matic’s flick on at the near post for his ninth goal in 11 games before Hazard grabbed his second of the evening with a sublime strike 10 minutes after the interval.

The Belgium international, coming off the right this time, swapped passes with Pedro before beating Ashley Williams and firing home at the near post.

There was still time for a fifth, Hazard again firing at goal, which Stekeleburg could only parry, allowing Pedro to tap into an empty net and send the Blues to the top of the table.
