Footballer, Wisdom, bags 12 years for internet fraud in Ilorin

Justice Mohammed Sani of the Federal High Court sitting in Ilorin, Kwara State has sentenced a professional footballer, Jacob Wisdom Chukwuemeka to 12 years in prison.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) disclosed this in a Wednesday statement.

The commission said that Justice Sani convicted and sentenced the footballer on Monday for offences bordering on internet fraud and possession of fraudulent funds.

Chukwuemeka, who was arraigned by the Ilorin Zonal Command of the EFCC, was convicted after pleading guilty to two-count charges bordering on possession of fraudulent funds, the commission said.
