Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde says those jostling for the 2023 presidency should put personal ambitions aside and first work to secure the nation.

He said that after security, restructuring of the nation must follow.

According to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Taiwo Adisa, the governor spoke Tuesday in Ibadan during the handing over of 33 additional operational vehicles and 396 motorcycles to the Oyo State Amotekun Corps.

Makinde had on Monday handed over 25 vehicles to the police and Operation Burst to combat insecurity in the state.

The governor said that the benefits of restructuring of the federation could not be overemphasised.

Makinde said, “I have heard some of our political leaders jostling around and saying they want to become the president of Nigeria in 2023.

“I think what we need at this stage is to secure our people and restructure Nigeria. It does not matter who is the president in Abuja. In a restructured Nigeria, every corner of the country will feel the impact of government. That is what we need.
