Former IGP Okiro issued quit notice

Former Inspector General of Police and Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Mike Okiro has been issued a notice to quit his residence.

The quit notice surfaced after Okiro allegedly refused to vacate the residence at the end of his tenancy. The landlord accused Okiro of ignoring a three-month quit notice which was served on 30th of April, 2015.

Okiro was also accused of ignoring a seven days “notice of owner’s intention to recover vacant possession of the property” which was also issued to him on December 1, 2015 by the landlord.

In the writ of summons issued by the District Court of the Federal Capital Territory Wuse, Abuja, the plaintiff -Kundi Limited- through Baba Lawal Aliyu, it’s lawyer is seeks an order compelling Mr Okiro to vacate the residence, further seeking the payment of N666,666.00 per month counting from October 31, 2015 till when judgement was entered.

The house is located at A06-4 Esa Oke Hill Close, Off Katsina Ala Crescent, Maitama District, Abuja was said to have been rented to Mr Okiro in a two-year tenancy agreement on July 25, 2013 at an annual rent of N8 million for the five bedroom duplex with three bedroom guest chalet.

“Since the expiration of the tenancy, the defendant has remained in occupation and enjoyment of the property and thereby accumulated mesne profit,” the plaintiff said.
