Former Kaduna Governor Detained By EFCC

Following the sentencing of a former Governor of Taraba state, Jolly Nyame, to 14 years in prison, another Ex-Governor has found himself in the net of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Ramalan Yero who was the former governor of Kaduna state from 2012 to 2015 was on Wednesday detained alongside a former Kaduna Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman, Haruna Gaiya; a former Minister of State for Power, Nuhu Way; and former Secretary to Kaduna State government, Hamza Ishaq at the EFCC zonal office in Kaduna State capital.

According to the EFCC, the former Governor and the three others are major suspects in a N750 million scam which they believed they disbursed from the PDP campaign fund before the 2015 general election.

 

Yero and the 3 others detained with him had been reporting regularly to the EFCC in line with the investigation and had so far been cooperating fully with the investigation, they were detained when they reported to the EFCC on Wednesday.

According to Channels Television, Kamaludeen Gebi, the EFCC’s spokesman for the Kaduna zone said that the four accused persons will be arraigned at a Federal high court sitting in Kaduna on Thursday on charges bordering on money laundering, criminal conspiracy, misappropriation of public funds among others.
