Former Super Eagles Captain John Mikel Obi Urges Victor Osimhen to Avoid Move to Saudi Arabia

Former Nigeria captain John Mikel Obi has issued a strong warning to striker Victor Osimhen against a potential transfer to the Saudi Arabian league this summer.
Speaking to Metro, Mikel Obi described it as “a shame” if Osimhen, who is currently back at Napoli after a prolific loan spell at Galatasaray, were to move to the Middle East.

Osimhen, 26, scored an impressive 37 goals in 41 appearances during his time in Turkey and is widely expected to secure a permanent transfer ahead of the 2025/2026 season.
“I hope there is still a Premier League move for him this summer,” Mikel Obi said. “I don’t want to see him in Saudi right now because he still has so much to offer in Europe.”
He added that Osimhen’s potential suitors could include top European clubs such as Arsenal, Manchester United, Juventus, and Paris Saint-Germain.
“It would be a shame to see him go there. So maybe Arsenal, United, Juventus and PSG too [are his options]. Let’s see what happens,” Mikel Obi concluded.
