The Federal High Court in Abuja has said the Federal Road Safety Corps should cease to arrest motorists whose vehicle and drivers license are still valid.

The FRSC had said it would begin to arrest motorists who failed to obtain a new drivers license and vehicle license imposed on them by the agency.

The deadline to obtain the new licenses imposd by the FRSC was October 1, 2013.

Justice Ademola Adeniyi, delivering his verdict in the suit filed by Abuja-based legal practitioner, Mr. John Musa, declared the threat by FRSC to start arresting road users over failure to obtain the new license despite the validity of their old ones as “unconstitutional and a clear example of an act of executive recklessness”.
