FRSC set to enforce new Driver’s licence nationwide starting Oct 2

Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC has reiterated its stance to implement the enforcement of the new drivers’ licence and plate numbers on October 2, 2019. Mr. Peter Oke, FRSC Osun state Commander, made this disclosure in an interview with newsmen.

Mr. Oke said Osun Command of the FRSC, has already put plans in place to implement the full enforcement of the law.

“We have established a synergy with the state Internal Revenue Service to sensitise the public on the clampdown ahead of the Oct.2 deadline.

“Awareness campaigns are being carried out by the command to inform and educate the public on the enforcement plans,” said Mr. Oke

The Osun state Commander stated that the portal meant for the issuance of the Drivers’ licence and number plates would now be made available at the Motor Licencing Authority (MLA) department of the state.

 “The command’s enforcement in the state has improved towards the ember months’ campaign,” he said.

Peter Oke also explained that sensitisation programmes are currently taking place on radio and television stations across the state to notify residents of the enforcement plans.

Regarding Drivers’ licence yet to be claimed,  Mr. Oke implored applicants to locate the commission’s offices for collection.

 “The number of vehicle licences issued for example in August is 221 while uncollected ones are about 2,859,” he said.

However, Oke said road users should always exercise caution on the highway, noting that safety is a priority and a responsibility
