In the wake of the deadly attacks that have claimed the lives of numerous people in the South-East especially Enugu where the attack on a small community still remains fresh in the mind, the FG has called on the people to not take laws into their own hands but instead be patient and peaceful.

According to the Minister of Science and Technology, Chief Ogbonnaya Onu, who said this at his country home at Uburu in Ohaozara Local Government Area of the state, the Federal Government was already on the matter and were willing to do everything in their power to stop the insurgency.

“The President has condemned it; we appeal to our people in the South-East to exercise patience.” He said

Meanwhile the Executive governor of Enugu Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi yesterday gave out N100m to over 400 communities to fund neighbourhood watch schemes to assist the security agencies in keeping the area safe.

Traditional rulers and town’s union presidents in the state were grateful for the magnanimity of the governor and said in a statement that: “We are also grateful to the governor for the donation of the sum of N100 million in support of the security efforts and activities of the communities. We have resolved to go back to our respective communities to mobilize the people and sensitize them on the need to support the initiatives of the government as they relate to security of lives and properties in Enugu State.”
