(Full List): France Overlooks Big Names In 23-Man World Cup Squad

France has named its 23-man squad list for the World Cup and some big-name players are missing.

These include Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema, Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette and Manchester United winger Anthony Martial.

While Benzema, who has had a running battle with the French FA and coach Didier Deschamps was completely omitted, Lacazette and Martial found their way into the standby list.

Others on the standby list include: Wissam Ben Yedder, Kingsley Coman, Benoit Costil, Mathieu Debuchy, Lucas Digne, Adrien Rabiot, Mamadou Sakho, Moussa Sissoko and Kurt Zouma.

However, Valencia’s Geoffrey Kondogbia and Marseille’s Dimitri Payet have also been overlooked.

Goalkeepers: Hugo Lloris (Tottenham Hotspur), Steve Mandanda (Marseille), Alphonse Areola (PSG)

Defenders: Djibril Sidibé (AS Monaco), Benjamin Pavard (VfB Stuttgart), Raphaël Varane (Real Madrid), Presnel Kimpembe (PSG), Adil Rami (Marseille), Samuel Umtiti (FC Barcelona), Lucas Hernandez (Atletico Madrid), Benjamin Mendy (Manchester City)

Midfielders: Paul Pogba (Manchester United), N’Golo Kanté (Chelsea FC), Corentin Tolisso (Bayern Munich), Blaise Matuidi (Juventus), Steven N’Zonzi (Sevilla), Thomas Lemar (AS Monaco)

Attackers: Kylian Mbappé (PSG), Olivier Giroud (Chelsea FC), Antoine Griezmann (Atletico Madrid), Ousmane Dembélé (FC Barcelona), Nabil Fékir (Lyon), Florian Thauvin (Marseille)

Les Blues are favourites to top Group C, which also has Australia, Denmark and Peru.

FIFA will announce each country’s final 23-man team selection on June 4.
