A furniture company, Dazzle Furniture Limited, says it will deepen efforts to reposition the furniture industry in order to create more jobs for unemployed Nigerian youths.

Mr Chukwuemeka Oji, co-founder of Dazzle Furniture Limited, said this at the National Carpentry and Furniture Summit (NACAFS 2016) on Saturday in Abuja.

The theme of the summit was “Inspiring a New Path to Tackle Unemployment with Innovation through Carpentry and Furniture Practice.”

Oji stated that the company would work harder to ensure that all relevant stakeholders contributed their quota in job creation.

“ We will provide a veritable platform for industry enthusiasts, practitioners, stakeholders, government and its relevant and regulatory agencies to meet and explore relationships that will reposition the industry in Nigeria,’’ he said.

He also said the company was determined to provide job opportunities for Nigerians, adding that this informed the establishment of the Dazzle Carpentry Training initiative.

“We shall have a new session from next year 2017 and it will be in four sessions in one year to help empower as many youths as possible.

“It will be intensive classes which consist of 70 percent practical and 30 percent theory.

“ Our factory will provide the hands-on training required to “heat the turbine,” he said.

“ All other stakeholders who have same passion are welcome to bring up plans to sustain this as this is geared to helping the trainees, “ he said.

According to him, partnership and networking would bring strategic growth and maximum advantage to achieving the feat.

He said the company had planned to foster new synergy and partnership for a better achievement.

Oji said the company was craving for action to achieve its goal and make a difference in the country.

“ Our mission is achieved by creating quality and superior furnishings by combining aesthetics, function and style to create comfort and satisfaction to deliver efficient service and installations as promised.

“ Today we have trained 20 Nigerian youths all on scholarship.

“ I know one will ask how possible it is to train one for just three months.

“ The answer is simple; more practical, more intensive class and hands work experience in the factory almost all the days of the week.

“We specialise in high-end residential and commercial build-outs and have a team of talented architects with solid industry experience and strong technical know-how, “ he said.

The Director of Dazzle Carpentry Training, Mr Jo Min, said the maiden edition of NACAFS2016 summit was also to create exhibitions in the wood, furniture and furnishings industry.

“ Let me quickly remind you that all products exhibited here today are all designed, produced and assembled by our graduating trainees as part of their final project.

“I thank individuals, companies, government agencies and all the likes of Dazzle Furniture Limited who share the same goal with us; the goal of tackling unemployment in Nigeria, “ he said.

Mr Victor Iberi, one of the graduates, described the training as a source of opportunity to acquire skills capable of value addition.

He urged other unemployed youths to use the opportunity to better their lives.

The company started in 2009 as Small Furniture Dazzle Furniture Limited providing a full line of furniture for homes, offices, hotels, learning centres and other-related facilities.

It was later incorporated as a limited liability company in 2011. (NAN)
