Gabriel Heinze Set to Join Arsenal as Mikel Arteta’s Assistant Coach

Former Manchester United defender Gabriel Heinze is set to join Arsenal’s coaching staff under Mikel Arteta, according to a report by The Athletic.
Heinze will reportedly replace Carlos Cuesta, who has left the Gunners to take up a head coaching role at Italian side Parma. The Argentine’s arrival at the Emirates will reunite him with Arteta, his former teammate at Paris Saint-Germain during the 2001–02 season.

Now 47, Heinze has built a coaching résumé that includes stints at Godoy Cruz, Atlanta United, and most recently Newell’s Old Boys—his boyhood club. He stepped down from the role at Newell’s in November 2023 after just one season in charge.
Heinze will become part of Arteta’s technical team, joining key figures such as assistant coach Albert Stuivenberg, set-piece coach Nicolas Jover, and goalkeeping coach Inaki Cana.
The move reflects Arteta’s continued effort to refresh and strengthen his backroom staff as Arsenal push to challenge for the Premier League title next season.
