The fall out of leaked videos showing the governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje collecting stacks of dollars allegedly as bribe from a state contractor do not seem to be going away anytime soon.

According to the Cable, the contractor who gave the monies shown in the videos to Ganduje has said he is ready to testify and explain the role he played in the leaked videos before an investigative committee set up by the Kano State House of Assembly to probe allegations against the state governor.

According to reports, the contractor had sent a letter to the chairman of the investigative panel, through his legal counsel Saeed Twada, stating that his allegations against Governor Ganduje were strictly personal and the journalist who had published the video was a whistleblower.

The series of videos had been published by an online newspaper, the Daily Nigerian, which boldly showed Governor showing Ganduje receiving kickbacks from contractors.

The Governor had however denied the allegations, with the state government saying the videos were doctored.

The Journalist who leaked the videos however testified before the investigative panel and confirmed that the videos were authentic while presenting more videos as evidence against the embattled governor.

The Contractor involved in the video however listed several conditions for his appearance before the investigative committee, some of which include the submission of the videos to forensic experts for verification, one of whom must be an officer of the Department of State Services (DSS) while the other must be an expatriate; their bills would  be paid  by Kano State.

The contractor also demanded the presence of Governor Ganduje, Jaafar Jaafar, publisher of Daily Nigerian, and one Aminu Daurawa at the hearing.

Read excerpts of the letter below;

“That a Certified True Copy of the report(s) prepared by the experts shall be made available to our client prior to his appearance.

That our client has undertaken to surrender to the experts the device used in capturing all the events in the video clips submitted and others yet to be submitted for discreet analysis and scrutiny.

That all the proposed questions to be asked by the panel in the anticipated session shall not be more than 10 and shall be forwarded to our client in advance.

That the sitting be restricted to limited persons and that our client should be allowed to wear  a mask, bear a fictitious  name and receive protection from authorities for himself, family and business.”
