Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila has sought the support of the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation asking for more intervention programmes in health care, agriculture and delivery services.
Gbajabiamila made this known while addressing the delegates of the foundation during a courtesy call made to his office. The Bill and Melinda Gates delegation was led by Mr Chris Elias, its President of Global Department.
The Honourable Speaker said Nigeria is always keen on forming alliance with Development partners that would have a huge positive impact on the socio-political and economic development of the country.

Furthermore, he said Nigeria’s alliance with Bill and Melinda Gates foundation is vital as the country leans more in the diversifying its economy while ensuring improved health care service to the people
Mr. Elias who led the delegation had earlier stated the purpose of the courtesy visit, was to familiarise with the Speaker and the House to inquire about areas where the Speaker would want the foundation to make improvement in its alliance with Nigeria.
“We believe very much in collaboration with development partners, and we welcome the collaboration in healthcare service delivery since Nigeria is perhaps your biggest operations in Africa.
“We want the collaboration to remain that way and probably become your biggest operations in the world one day. We’ll continue to reach out to you in polio eradication and agriculture since Nigerian is on the march to diversify its economy,” the Speaker said.
Gbajabiamila urged the foundation in liaising with relevant committees of the House to ensure a successful alliance.
