The Rivers Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA) has cancelled the monthly sanitation exercise billed for Sept. 29 in the state due to the ongoing General Certificate of Examination (GCE) in Nigeria.

Mr Felix Obuah, Sole Administrator of RIWAMA, made this known in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Jerry Needam.

Obuah was quoted as saying that the cancellation of the exercise became necessary so as to enable candidates and others participating in the examination get to their various centres unhindered.

He urged Rivers residents to keep their surroundings and business premises clean at all times.

The agency boss also advised residents of the state to cultivate good sanitary habit by ensuring that their surroundings were clean at all times.

“You must also ensure that your gutters and drains are empty to allow for free flow of water,” he said.(NAN)
