INEC Declares Osun Election as Inconclusive

Some perspectives to help some of our folks know what they are doing when they hail certain orders. There are certain mental projections into body counts that people just never make before they wax euphoric over woolly-headed actions and decisions of political actors. Here is something for you to consider:

According to Nigeria’s Civil Society Situation Room, we have harvested 185 bodies in the 2019 electoral cycle. Their documentation of 2019 election-related deaths covers October 2018 to date. International Crisis Group puts the body count at 181, covering pretty much the same period. The Council on Foreign Relations has figures in the same neighborhood.

All of these election-related death computing actors will tell you that there are deaths in other crisis points they are yet to factor in because of a range of factors – lack of reliable sources or inability to determine that such deaths are a direct consequence of the 2019 election cycle violence.

However, we do have 185 compatriots dead so far. And Saturday is still far away from here. Let that sink in before you find constipated rationalizations for anything that could make us lose one more Nigerian life because of the unscrupulous politicians you love.
