Gervinho blames Arsene Wenger for his poor stint at the Emirates

Gervinho has come out to criticise Arsene Wenger for playing him out of position throughout his two years at Arsenal.

The Ivorian joined Roma for 8 million euros last month after scoring 11 goals in 63 appearances, the player is hoping to revive his career in Italy and stresses that he could have performed better in Wenger’s team if he was used as a central striker.

“I was not getting much time on the pitch and was in need of this time to improve and play my best football,” the 26-year-old told The Sun.

“Wenger was not prepared to give it to me. Also my position on the wing was not what I was expecting and I wasn’t happy with it.

“It would have helped had he (Wenger) shown more confidence in me.”
