Due to the allegations of sexual impropriety surrounding the General Overseer of COZA, Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo, there was a lot of anticipation building that he would address the vivid accusatory revelations made by two women and former members of his congregation against him. However the Pastor chose to take the route of NOT addressing, at least directly the scandal which has held social media agog.
Pastor Biodun said he was sure those in the church had heard about the allegations. He said most of his mentors, even some high profile members from the first world, asked him not to discuss the issues. However he said he would discuss the issue because he did not want to take his congregation for granted. He also addressed the fact that he was aware a lot of people attended the church service just to hear what he would say.
He said, “Now read my lips, because I know there are people here that are not part of my church. We are going to speak but we are consulting so as to come with a robust reply. One thing you can be assured of is that my wife and I love you.”
He compared the issue with the loss of a family member and said even then he did not speak.
The Pastor did however seem to have some subliminal messages rooted in the word of God. Today’s message which was centered on the adversity Biblical characters like Joseph and Isaac faced can be summarized as “Do not fight your battles!, Let God fight for you.” The theme of the message itself speaks volumes when decoded from its subliminal context. By not addressing the issues, Pastor Fatoyinbo is saying he will not fight/join issues with the women who have accused him of sexual predator conduct. Thus he may never speak out on the veracity or otherwise of the allegations.
