We Are Going To ‘Park The Double Decker Bus’ Against Liverpool – David Moyes

Sunderland manager, David Moyes has revealed his game tactics to ‘park the bus’ when his side take on Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday.

The Reds have been in free-scoring mood so far this season and have been especially potent on home soil, scoring 19 times in just six matches at Anfield.

Moyes acknowledged that his side are likely to be on the back foot for long spells during this weekend’s match, but hopes that the in-form striking partnership of Jermain Defoe and Victor Anichebe can cause the Reds problems.

“I think you have to go there and park the double decker bus. I think anybody who plays against Liverpool has to park the double decker bus. But we will hopefully have two centre-forwards like we’ve got at the moment scoring goals at the other end of the pitch as well. I don’t think you can kid yourself – they (Liverpool) are in good form and are a good team,” he told reporters.

“We’ve just got to be careful – we’ve won two games with Victor coming into the team and we also played well at Southampton and should still be in the cup. But let’s put it into context – he’s not a £20m centre-forward.

“We’ve got a centre-forward who I believe in and I know what he is capable of but there will be games when he is on top form and games when he is not. We’ve been really pleased with him and Jermain – what Jermain has done whether it be this season or in seasons gone by speaks for itself with his goals.”

A win for Sunderland at Anfield would give them three league victories on the bounce for the first time since May 2014.
