The Commissioner of Police in Gombe State, Mr Austin Iwar has read the riot act to officers and men of the Gombe State Police Command.

The new CP warned the men to desist from any acts that can constitute an abuse of the fundamental human rights of residents of the state, while imploring the residents to be law-abiding and go about their normal duties with no fear of molestation from any quarters.

Iwar gave the charge on Wednesday while on a familiarization tour of the command.

He said it would no longer be business as usual in the state for miscreants, whose stuck in trade was fomenting trouble, warning them that the command would deal decisively with anyone caught “disturbing the peaceful coexistence” in the state.

According to him “In this regard, all operators of illegal motor parks and related activities are warned to fold up in their own interest.

“As we strive to ensure that Gombe State enjoys peace and security, measures will be taken to frustrate and reduce the activities of Yankalere boys and like groups.”
