Gospel Singer Mercy Chinwo Drags Ex-Manager to Court Over Alleged Diversion of $345K Music Royalties

1 Min Read

Nigerian gospel singer, Mercy Chinwo, has taken her ex-manager, Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, to court over allegations of diverting $345,000 in music royalties.

According to reports, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has filed a motion to secure Onyedikachukwu’s appearance in court, and a warrant has been issued for his arrest by the Lagos State Federal High Court.

Onyedikachukwu is set to be arraigned on January 24, 2025, for allegedly failing to remit Chinwo’s fair share of music royalties from her online platforms and concerts.

The EFCC stated in an affidavit that Chinwo had written a petition against Onyedikachukwu, and despite efforts to arrest him, he has remained elusive, prompting the application for an arrest warrant.

Justice Alexander Owoeye granted the application on Thursday, paving the way for Onyedikachukwu’s arrest and arraignment.

Chinwo was signed to EeZee Conceptz record label, owned by Onyedikachukwu, in 2017. However, she left the label in 2022 due to a disagreement over financial matters.
