Gov. Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara has approved the constitution of a visitation panel for the Kwara State University, Malete, to look into the affairs of the institution and make appropriate recommendations for improvement.
This is contained in a statement issued on Friday in Ilorin by Alhaji Isiaka Gold, the Secretary to the State Government.

The seven-member visitation panel is headed by Prof. Saka Nuhu, while Mr. A. M. Odetokun will serve as the secretary.

Other members of the panel are Dr S. O. Ajayi, Mustapha Hussain Olarewaju, Alhaji S. A. Musa, Mr O. J. Fabiyi and Mr. H.A. Gegele.

Gold stated that the panel was made up tested academics, technocrats and bureaucrats who were selected because of their experience, clout, integrity and ability.

He listed the terms of reference of the panel to include: examine the areas of comparative advantage enjoyed by the university and advice on ways to make it second to none in the academic field.

The panel was also mandated to examine the staffing position of the school in relation to students’ population and financial ability to pay staff entitlements.

According to Gold, the panel is also expected to give any advice or recommendation that will assist the government in making the institution self-reliant.

The panel has three weeks to submit its report.
