Guinness partners Stanbic IBTC to support Nigerian farmers

Guinness Nigeria Plc has launched an agriculture scheme to support the Federal Government’s efforts to diversify the economy and enhance local content in the agricultural sector

The scheme, tagged, ‘Grow with Nigeria,’ is designed  to support the growth of Nigeria’s agricultural value chain, as well as that of smallholder farmers across the country.

Speaking at the inauguration of the scheme in Abuja, the Managing Director, Guinness Nigeria, Baker Magunda, said, “We are here today to further demonstrate our commitment to the Federal Government‘s policy on diversification and local content, the growth of the agricultural value chain and that of smallholder farmers who form an integral part of our business.

Speaking on the initiative, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural development, Chief Audu Ogbeh, commended the firm, urging other manufacturers to do same.

Stanbic IBTC, which is the financial partner of the initiative, restated its commitment to providing financial solutions that would help them and their businesses grow through its agriculture desk.

The bank revealed that it had injected over N50bn into Nigeria’s agricultural sector and this was one of the largest investments recorded in the sector so far.
