The Herald gathered that the women, numbering about 30, were in white wrappers and bras with no clothes covering the upper parts of their bodies. They asked the Department of State Service (DSS) to release their son, Sowore.

It was learnt that they were from Sowore’s village, in Kiribo, Ese-Odo local government area of Ondo state. The protesting women were not allowed entry into the court premises.

They stayed by the gate brandishing their placards with various inscriptions calling for Sowore’s release. Some of their placards read: “Sowore is not a criminal, release our son now.”

Many of the aged women with grey hair, speaking in their Apoi dialect, also appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to release their son from DSS custody.

Earlier, The Herald reported that the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Thursday, ordered the Department of State Services (DSS) to release the Convener, #RevolutionNow Protest, Omoyele Sowore, and his co-defendant, Olawale Bakare, within 24 hours.

Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu who gave the order, however, adjourned the trial to Friday, December 6, over the failure of the prosecution to comply with her order of November 6 directing them to serve some documents on the defence counsel, Mr Femi Falana (SAN).

She then issued a cost of #100,0000 against the prosecution for sloppiness and imposing “frivolous adjournments” on the court.
