Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State says he will speedily sign the death warrant of the killer of five-year-old Hanifa Abubakar if convicted and sentenced to death by a court.

The governor’s comment came as First Lady Aisha Buhari called for the public execution of the suspected killer of the schoolgirl, Abdulmalik Muhammad Tanko, who also happened to be her school’s proprietor.

Ganduje spoke when he paid a condolence visit to the family of the deceased in Dakata/Kawaji.

The governor was accompanied by his Deputy, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, Majority Leader, State House of Assembly, Labaran Abdul Madari and other top government functionaries.

“We have good confirmation from the court handling the process that, justice would be done. No stone would be left unturned.

“Whoever is found guilty of this heinous offence will also face death without wasting any time. As a government, we have already started the process. Our constitution provides that, when a death sentence is passed, it is the constitutional power of the governor to assent for the execution of the culprit. I assure you all that, I will not waste even one second,” read a statement signed by the governor’s media aide, Abba Anwar.

The governor promised speedy dispensation of justice, and vowed to take care of the schoolgirl’s family.
