Gerard Pique has reassured that Ernesto Valverde is the right man for Barca job. He explained that it’ll be a good idea if he manages the club for another season, even though there have been doubts about his future at the club.

Although Barca’s president, Josep Maria Bartomeu has said that Valverde’s deal will not expire until 2020, many still believe that he may not remain beyond the current campaign. This is because Valverde’s deal allows the club to terminate his contract a year before the signed date.

However, after Barca’s 2-1 win over Getafe on Sunday, Pique insisted that he is pleased with how his manager works, hence he expects him to lead the team beyond the current campaign.

Pique said, “It’s a decision that he will make and we will respect because he is the coach,” Pique said.

“We would be delighted if he decided to continue and he is doing a magnificent job.

“He brings calmness and he is producing results and showing that his way works.”

Meanwhile, Barcelona’s victory implies that they now have 10 more points than their rival, Real Madrid after Real lost 2-0 to Real Sociedad.

While expressing his thoughts, Pique said, “I don’t know if it’s a major blow to La Liga, in terms of the points between us and the rivals.”

“It’s always good to come back from the Christmas break with a win. I think it’s years since we did it.”
