Heal better with these healthy foods


When faced with cases of illnesses or injuries that prove difficult to heal, introduction of a variety of foods can make the healing faster and easier. Foods we eat can significantly help us to prevent and manage symptoms. Getting nutrients directly from foods rather than supplements is often strongly advised.

Different foods work effectively with different illnesses.They include;

  • Ginger

Ginger, although generally known as cooking spice has a range of health benefits like assisting in digestion, calming stomach upset and treating arthritis. Ginger is also specifically known for its ability to reduce postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV).

  • Mushrooms

Different mushrooms such as the white button, shiitake, portabella and cremini are highly praised for their health benefits. Shiitake mushrooms are under examination as research says that they may assist in fighting cancer by improving immune systems with lentinan, a compound that is believed to slow down the growth of tumors.

  • Fat foods

Completely cutting fat from your diet might lead to depression as it is essential for proper brain functioning. Monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats (healthy fats) assist in reducing the risk of having heart-related diseases. Healthy food sources of fat include, fatty fish (they contain omega 3), olive oil, avocado and nuts like walnuts and almonds.

  • Probiotics

Probiotics are harmless bacteria. They are live microorganisms that protects the body against diseases. They can be found in foods like yogurt and soy beverages. Researches are being made to establish on the potential ability of probiotics to treat diseases like irritable bowel syndrome, skin infections and certain cancer types.

  • Calcium-filled foods

Broken bones can be effectively healed with calcium-rich food items. Vitamin D is also incorporated as it helps the body to absorb the calcium. The sources include, dairy and dairy products, green vegetables, fatty fish, nuts and beans.
