Heavy rainstorm hits Abuja community, destroys over 50 houses

No fewer than 50 houses were on Wednesday reduced to ruins in Kuduru community, the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory after a heavy rainstorm.

The rainstorm was said to have blown off the roofs of some homes, worship centres, hotels, bakeries and schools, with electric poles, fence and other infrastructure uprooted

The heavy rain, which started around 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, destroyed property estimated to be worth millions of naira.

Students of Government Secondary School, Kuduru were in the boarding house of the school when the roof was blown off while the fence of the school completely caved in to the heavy rain.

Also, part of the building housing the Police Station, and another housing the Apostolic Church, both in Kuduru went down as a result of the impact of the rainstorm.
