Hit By Train On Thursday, Lagos Female Corps Member Dies

The death has been reported of Miss Nneka Odili, a corps member undergoing her compulsory one-year national youth service programme in Lagos.

She studied Home Economics at the Federal College of Education , Technical , Omoku , Rivers State, and later went to study Human Kinetics at the University of Port Harcourt.

According to reports, Odili was hit by a train on Thursday while walking along the rail line in the Ikeja axis of the state.

Odili was said to have been returning home from the monthly clearance exercise of the Corps at the Ikeja LGA Secretariat when the incident happened.

Witnesses said the lady was using an earpiece and could not hear the blaring of the train’s horns before she was hit.

In photos shared by witnesses, the victim’s right leg and left hand could be seen badly damaged while blood was also noticed on her face.

Odili was reportedly rushed to a nearby hospital, where she succumbed to her wounds.

The NYSC Public Relations Officer in the state, Mrs Belinda Faniyi, was quoted by The Punch as confirming the incident on Friday.
