Immediate-past Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose has flayed former President Olusegun Obasanjo for failing to honour presumed winner of the annulled June 12, 1993 presidential election, Chief MKO Abiola.

He said it was to “Obasanjo’s shame” that he failed to honour his “kinsman”, Abiola, despite being the beneficiary of the late billionaire’s struggle.

Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari announced the renaming of Abuja National Stadium as Moshood Abiola National Stadium on Wednesday.

Buhari’s administration also successfully moved for the commemoration of Democracy Day on June 12 instead of May 29, in recognition of Abiola’s struggle.

Fayose commended the president for the move.

Taking to Twitter on Thursday afternoon, Fayose said, “Honouring MKO Abiola by Buhari is to Obasanjo’s shame.

“It remains a sore-point of his political history that because of ego, Obasanjo, who’s the greatest beneficiary of the June 12, 1993 struggle failed to honour his kinsman, MKO Abiola. So, I commend President Buhari.”
