In a bizarre turn of events, two housemaids were arraigned at a magistrates court on Tuesday for sexually assaulting assaulting the daughters of their employers.
The maids identified as Peace Sunday 18, and Bose Augustine 19, allegedly sexually assaulted their victims, a two year old and a 17 year old with fingers and sticks, causing serious bodily harm.
They were arraigned at the Igbosere magistrates court but their pleas were not taken when the case was mentioned.
Both maids were charged with three counts of of unlawful and indecent sexual penetration of the vagina and anus of both victims with fingers and wooden sticks.
The presiding magistrate Mrs. Doja Ojo ordered the accused persons to be temporarily remanded in the custody of the police pending advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution.
Both maids were arrested by the Police at the Ilasan Division Lekki, after the parents of the victims laid a complaint. An investigation was thereafter launched before the accused were charged to court.
According to Police Prosecution Counsel, Inspector Peace Chukwudi told the court that the accused sexually assaulted their victims between 24 and 27 May at the Lekki Garden Horizon 2 Estate, Lekki where they y work and live with their employers.

The police said further that the complainants had left their children in care of both accused maids and went to work. Upon return they realised that their children had been raped by their maids with wooden sticks which inflicted terrible injuries on the private parts of the children.
The victims were referred to Mirabel Medical Centre for Examination after the complaints were made.
The offences are punishable under sections 411 and 261 of the criminal law of Lagos state, 2015. The case was thereafter adjourned till July 4 pending advice from the DPP.
