Houses set Ablaze as Boko Haram invades Dapchi

Reports from Dapchi town, Busari local government, Yobe State say Boko Haram have invaded the town and set many houses ablaze.

According to theCable, the terrorists invaded the town at 7pm on Monday evening and started shooting and burning houses as residents scampered into nearby bushes for safety.

The report stated that Military Jets were scrambled to the skies above the area while Nigerian Army troops have moved into the town to repel the attack.

“The military and the insurgents are currently in a hot exchange of fire. Right now as I am talking to you, they are throwing bombs everywhere. The insurgents are currently occupying the town. But most of the residents have fled.” A resident was quoted to have said.

Another resident said security operatives were withdrawn from the town five months ago of prior to this attack.

Dapchi became known after 117 female students were abducted by Boko Haram in 2018.

101 of them were later released alive with five having died in captivity and one, Rachael Shaibu left in captivity because of her religion.

Leah Sharibu is still in Boko Haram captivity.
